Hartford starter Ricky Garay pitched effectively against the Chesapeake Tailgators at Ballpark of Tacoma. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-4. Ken Yates nailed down his 10th save. Hartford is now 19-20, Chesapeake 15-24.

With the bases empty and no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning, second baseman Chris Flowers delivered big for the Matadors. Hartford was trailing 4-3 when he belted a solo home run.

"Ricky pitched like a son-of-a-gun," said Hartford manager Jesse Heugly.
