Jesters Come Up Short at Portland, 5-4
Portland beat Joilet at Mad Ants Ballpark, escaping with a 5-4 win. The win in large part was due to third baseman Josh Kelly. He went 4-4 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI. Picking up the win was Chris Simon. He went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits. The right--hander struck out 3 and walked 5. Gordie Clifford closed it out for Portland, earning his 9th save.

Pompano Beach, Florida native Josh Kelly had a clutch at-bat in the bottom of the seventh for the Mad Ants. With Portland trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Joilet manager Felipe Arriaga. "But we decided not to take it."

The Mad Ants saw their win-loss record go to 20-17. At the same time, the Jesters fell to 21-16.
