Thanks in large part to first baseman Jim Wilkes, the Montreal Canadiens beat the Nashville Lasers, 9-6. Wilkes went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The win went to Gabe Lopez in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Joel Racinowski took the loss. After today's action, Montreal sits at 10-22; Nashville slips to 17-15.

Corey Routh came through with a big-time hit for Montreal. The third baseman smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 9-6. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Wilkes.
