Chesapeake Gets 5-3 Win
Chesapeake Tailgators starter Alex Martinez pitched a strong game against the El Paso Chupacabras at Chupacabras Stadium, leading the Tailgators to victory, 5-3. Martinez, now 2-2, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. Nick Douglass nailed down his 3rd save.

Chesapeake used the timely hitting of Kevin Cimini to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Tailgators on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Alex is tough to beat when he's hitting his spots," said Chesapeake manager Dave York.

Chesapeake occupies 5th place in the Stars Conference East Division at 15-16.
