The Laredo Ghosts besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Hartford right fielder Malcolm McKechnie by beating the Matadors, 7-6, at Ballpark of Tacoma. McKechnie was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The 5th-place Ghosts improved to 13-17.

Laredo used the hitting of Mike Nelson to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Ghosts on top, 4-0. For the game, Nelson had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

Ghosts manager Josh Miller wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
