The Laredo Ghosts downed the Hartford Matadors, 12-8, at Ballpark of Tacoma. Tony Martinez led the way, going 4-for-6 for Laredo. Eric Whiting snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-1 on the season. Ryan Barmore suffered the loss. Their 12-17 record puts the Ghosts 5th in the Stars Conference West Division.

Had Mike Nelson not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Nelson hit a 2-run single. That made the score 8-6, in favor of the Ghosts.

Nelson told a Laredo Bulletin reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
