Chesapeake Slaps 7-4 Loss on Montreal
|
The Tailgators grabbed a win, 7-4, at Tailgators Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Montreal pitcher Justin Baker. Baker went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. The Tailgators saw their win-loss record go to 13-17. At the same time, the Royals fell to 13-17.
Had John Gonzales not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Gonzales hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Tailgators.
"Whenever I help the team," said Gonzales, "it sort of justifies my place on the roster."
