Chris Quinton did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Fremont Marshalls from being beaten, 5-4, to the Montreal Royals at Hedgehogs Park. Quinton went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Ryan Warren, who threw 108 pitches over 7.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 10 hits. The Marshalls drop to 8-11 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2026 season.

San Diego, California-born Angel Lujan came through in the clutch. In the top of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Royals trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to right to put Montreal on top.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Fremont manager Bill Mason.
