The Portland Mad Ants defeated the Hartford Matadors, 8-3, in part because of first baseman Jamie Creed. Creed slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4 for the Mad Ants. Stuart Maness was the winner. He's now 1-0. The loser was Fernando Garcia. Pat Eisenhower picked up the save for Portland, his 2nd of the year.

Creed contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Portland in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Creed took a fastball from Fernando Garcia and stroked the home run to left. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Mad Ants to leap in front, 5-3.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Creed said in reaction to the win.

The Matadors fall to 6-10 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2024 season.
