Wranglers Shimmy Past Fighting Knights, 5-4
|
Though he had a stellar game, Patrick McCall could not prevent his team, the Niskayuna Fighting Knights, from losing, 5-4, to the Newport News Wranglers. McCall went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The win belonged to Jonathan Aubry in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Alejandro Rivera took the loss for Niskayuna. The first-place Wranglers, at 52-43, lead the Sub League 2 East Division by 2 games.
David Hidalgo was the walk-off hero for Newport News. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Wranglers designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Hidalgo said after the game.
