The Mt. Vernon Cyclones weathered a fine game by Anaheim first baseman Chris Malay to upend the Music, 4-3, at Mt. Vernon Grounds. Malay went 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The victory gives the Cyclones a record of 50-45.

Mt. Vernon got a clutch hit from Juan Guerra. The center fielder launched a solo home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Cyclones manager Dan McClure.
