Montgomery Rallies for 4-2 Win
|
The Sikeston Shamrocks got a sterling performance from pitcher Keith Carter, but the Montgomery Missions still prevailed, 4-2. Carter threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball. Montgomery reliever Lee Davidson picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Matt Drayton absorbed the loss. The Montgomery win streak is now 3 games.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Billy Veillette came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Sikeston pitcher Matt Drayton, he hit a 2-1 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Montgomery on top, 2-1.
Montgomery manager Hoa Nguyen-Dinh commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
