The Montgomery Missions needed 10 innings to beat the Mt. Vernon Cyclones, 6-5, at Mt. Vernon Grounds. The win was due in part to right fielder Don Hutchison, who went 2-4 with a home run and 2 walks. Alex Balladares, 2-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4 innings. With this game in the books, Montgomery is 18-15, Mt. Vernon 20-13.

Montgomery used the timely hitting of Juan Jasso to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Missions on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Jasso.
