Mt. Vernon Hangs 10-7 Loss on Niskayuna
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Mt. Vernon Cyclones and Niskayuna Fighting Knights.

The 10-7 Mt. Vernon win over Niskayuna was due largely to Lorenzo Torres. The Cyclones second baseman went 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jonathan Bencosme came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 4.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-0.

An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Cyclones third baseman Leo Carballo hit a splitter from Jesus Garcia for a 2-run single. Just like that, Mt. Vernon was up, 6-5.

"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Torres.

Mt. Vernon has a record of 19-17, placing them third in the Sub League 2 East Division.
