Wranglers Lose at Home, 4-3
|
The Carson City Miners spoiled a good performance by Newport News third baseman Nick Bourg, bumping off Newport News, 4-3, at Wranglers Stadium. Bourg was 1 for 2 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Victor Meza got the win, improving to 4-0. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Carson City has run its win streak to 4 consecutive.
Carson City used the timely hitting of Caleb Herendeen to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Miners ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We're playing like we're capable of," said Carson City manager Nate West.
