Canadiens Handle Glendale, Snag 5-3 Win
|
The Glendale Muskies inaugurated the 2024 campaign with a disappointing 5-3 loss to the Montreal Canadiens at Field of the Muskies. Montreal center fielder Mike Smith had a big impact on the outcome. He was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was Kevin Sicola. He's now 1-0. He went 6.2 innings, allowing no runs on 6 hits for the Canadiens. Ronnie Miller was credited with the save for Montreal, his 1st of the season.
Smith had a key at-bat for Montreal in the top of the second. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a 2-run double. It was his 1st double of the season and gave Montreal an early 2-0 lead.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Smith told the Montreal Citizen.
