Mt. Vernon got a terrific game from left fielder Jose Mora. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Spring Park, 5-4. Mora was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Jim Unknown snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 2.1 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Spring Park now has a record of 1-2.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Spring Park pinch hitter Guadalupe Torres, facing Rico Lopez, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Green Knights the 5-4 win.
