Black Aces Hand Newport 7-3 Loss
|
The Santa Ana Black Aces defeated the Newport Unicorns, 7-3, at Chanticleers Ballpark. Santa Ana catcher Chris Wahl had a superb performance. He went 4-4 with 4 singles, while scoring 3 runs. Roberto Alcaide, the winning pitcher, is now 9-5. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 1. Santa Ana leads the Sub League 1 Central Division by 33 games.
Santa Ana used the timely hitting of Bill Kibler to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Black Aces on top, 5-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.
"Today was a lot of fun," said Wahl.
