Little Rock wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Dave Anderson, falling to the Newport Unicorns, 4-3. Anderson threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Chad Elder, 5-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. With the win, Newport goes to 37-42, while the Golden Gophers fall to 66-13.

The Unicorns got a clutch hit from second baseman Manny Alarcon. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Unicorns.

"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Victor Sepulveda.
