Ortiz hits 2 home runs in Newport Win
Andrew Ortiz left his imprint on the 9-5 Newport win against the Little Rock Golden Gophers. Ortiz went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Armando Castro earned the win to go to 4-3. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 5 walks and 3 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. Carlos Palmas picked up the save for Newport, his 11th of the year.

Sébastien Fleury, who is rated as the 77th best prospect by BNN, helped out the Newport cause in the top of the second inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the third baseman was 2-4 with a triple. He scored 2 runs.

"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Ortiz.

The Unicorns saw their win-loss record go to 20-25. At the same time, the Golden Gophers fell to 36-9.
