The 2026 season is going from bad to worse for Newport.

Medford pitcher Ben Gallegos did his part in helping his team defeat the Newport Unicorns, 4-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. The save went to Keith Price, number 2 for him.

The Desperados got a big at-bat from left fielder Justin Cottingham. For the game, Cottingham went 2-5 with 2 doubles. In the top of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 8th double of the season gave Medford a 2-1 lead.
