The Providence Hex soundly defeated the Newport Unicorns, 13-1, at Chanticleers Ballpark, with catcher Patrick Burt a major reason why. He went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs for Providence. Providence reliever Miguel de Leon picked up the win to move to 2-1. Lorenzo Martinez suffered the loss. The Hex saw their win-loss record go to 19-14. At the same time, the Unicorns fell to 14-19.

Burt had a big at-bat with a runner on 1st in the top of the fourth inning, when he hit a double. The Hex went on to win.

Newport manager Victor Sepulveda said: "The beauty of this game is games like this only count as one loss."
