Ray has 5 RBI to Ignite Hex Offense
|
The Providence Hex defeated the Newport Unicorns, 9-2, at Ballpark of Providence. Providence was led by 22-year old left fielder Greg Ray, who was 2-2 with a home run and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. William Ramos got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Unicorns to no runs on 3 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Providence, now 2-0, is setting the league on fire so far.
With Providence leading 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Ray hit a fastball from Jimmy Holt for a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Hex ahead, 5-0.
"We took a roundhouse punch to the chin," said losing manager Victor Sepulveda.
