When the games really matter, the Cincinnati Royals put on their best show, beating the Charleston Shiners by a final score of 8-4. Aaron Jalbert slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Cincinnati now leads Charleston 1-0 in the best-of-7 affair.

An important at-bat for Cincinnati came with no one out in the top of the ninth. With the bases empty, Jalbert hit a solo home run, which contributed to the Royals win.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Jalbert. "You've got to get results."
