Spokane Pins 7-1 Loss on Orono
|
With starter Jerry Bowman leading the charge, the Spokane Selects defeated the Orono Oaks, 7-1, in Game 2 of the League Championship Series. The right-hander threw 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball at University of Maine Stadium to help Spokane take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Spokane used a well-timed hit by Sam Markowicz to capture the win. The center fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Selects ahead, 5-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I thought we played a nice game," Markowicz told the Spokane Chronicle. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The next game is set to be played for Saturday, September 30th , 2023 at Selects Ballpark in Spokane.
