Desperados Pull Out Late-Game Win, 6-5
|
The rain did not keep Medford and Little Rock from finishing their game.
The Little Rock Golden Gophers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Rick Hall into a win. Instead, the Medford Desperados prevailed, 6-5. Hall came in in relief and pitched to 18 batters. The Desperados raised their record to 12-7.
Matt Sikes drove in one run for Medford. With one out and the game tied in the top of the eighth inning, Sikes had a clutch at-bat. Facing Little Rock hurler Hirofumi Tagawa, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Desperados a 6-5 lead.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Little Rock manager Jose Moreno. "The effort was great."
