Powered by Brandon Coleman, the Medford Desperados downed the Newport Unicorns, 14-4. Coleman went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for the Desperados. Jose Diaz got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Unicorns to 1 run on 3 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Matt Howe earned the save for Medford.

In the bottom of the second inning, left fielder Akimitsu Hoshi had a 2-run double for Medford. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Desperados on top, 2-0.

"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Coleman told the Medford Gazette.

The win moves Medford to a record of 8-3.
