The Medford Desperados got a magnificent effort from pitcher Ben Gallegos, who kept Newport hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Desperados win at Ballpark of Medford. The win was credited to Keith Price in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Sergio Tapia took the loss. The win brings the Desperados to 7-3, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Medford. That's when Cody Griffith hit a 3-run home run off 20-year old right-handed pitcher Sergio Tapia to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"My gosh almighty, Ben was tremendous," said Medford manager Noah Alexander.
