Fighting Irish Dominate, Sweep Elite 8

Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the Conference 1 Elite 8. It turned out quite a bit different.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish swept aside the Illinois Fighting Illini to advance to the Final 4, winning the final game by a 2-1 score at Frank Eck Stadium.
The series MVP was first baseman Alex Aime, who hit .500 with a .556 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 3 runs.
"We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it."
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Wisconsin Badgers - Michigan State Spartans series. Michigan State leads the series 1 game to 0. The Final 4 schedule will be announced after the Elite 8 finishes.
