Ladnier has 3 hits in Newport Win
The Waco Warlocks opened their 2026 season with a disappointing 10-8 loss to the Newport Unicorns at Warlocks Grounds. Shortstop Nate Ladnier was a big part of the win for Newport. He was 3 for 4 with 3 doubles and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Seiichi Yamaguchi finished the game for Newport and earned his 1st save.

Had Shaun Warwick not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Warwick hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 9-8, in favor of the Unicorns.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Newport skipper Victor Sepulveda.
