Buckeye Local Halts Gallardo's Hitting Steak Saturday, May 16th , 2026 It was a doubly miserable day for Jose Gallardo of the Chuluota Imperials, as he saw his 38-game hitting streak end and his team lose, 4-2, to the Buckeye Local Panthers at Cincinnati Grounds. The 18-year-old second baseman was held hitless in 5 at-bats by the Panthers. "Anyone on a 38-game hitting streak is going to be a tough out," Buckeye Local manager Seung-soo Chun said later. "But we had a plan and we were careful about it, and got it done." For the season, Gallardo is hitting .461, batted in 29 runs with 8 home runs and 43 runs scored. |
