Blanco Slams 3 Homers for Killers
Friday, April 19th , 2024
Crystal Lake Killers left fielder Jon Blanco put on a dazzling display of power at Whataburger Field against the Corpus Christi Texans. In the 9-5 Killers victory, Blanco penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Corpus Christi manager James Beatty said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 20-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Blanco said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Jon Blanco hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 3rd, walked in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 8th and flied out in the 9th.
To date Blanco has chalked up a .438 average with 5 home runs, driven in 17 runs and scored 8 times.
