5-Hit Game for Vega
Saturday, April 13th , 2024
After a 5-hit effort to lead San Bernardino's 19-8 victory over the Crystal Lake Killers, shortstop Jeremias Vega told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the ABA Rookie League-level is really something special."

The 19-year-old player earned his accolades at Killer Stadium with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Killers.

"His swing is getting there," said Flight skipper Nick Neumann, who spoke glowingly of Vega after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Jeremias did that to perfection."

Jeremias Vega singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.

Thus far this season, Vega is hitting .458 with no home runs, 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. He has 11 hits in 24 at-bats and has played in 5 games.
