Higgins Put in Cooler, Hitless Against San Antonio
Friday, April 24th , 2026
The Jacksonville Nationals lost to the San Antonio Griffins, 5-1, at Nationals Park, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Matt Higgins's 30-game hitting streak. The second baseman went 0-for-3 on the day.

"We felt if we could slow down Higgins, we would win the game," Griffins manager James Beatty explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down."

This season, Higgins is batting .500 with 39 hits and 7 home runs. He has scored 28 times and has 17 RBI.
