He may have less experience than most of his ABA Rookie League peers, but that didn't slow Curt Koerner down at all in 2025.

At the age of 21, the Ft. Wayne catcher has been named the winner of the Southern Conference Most Valuable Player Award.

He had a .476 batting average and a .522 on-base percentage this year. In 110 games he piled up 246 hits, 57 doubles, 4 triples, 78 home runs, 196 RBIs and 184 runs scored.

"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."

He received 22 first place votes out of a possible 24. Nick Gratta of the Buckeye Local Panthers finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Jose Valdez of the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes finished third.
