Tully Goes Downtown 3 Times Against Panthers
Wednesday, August 30th , 2023
His swing was a thing of beauty. Three times Ricky Tully swung the bat and three times he delivered a home run. It was an awesome sight to behold at Cincinnati Grounds, but to no avail, for as good as he was, the Buckeye Local Panthers were better.
The Chuluota Imperials couldn't capitalize on the big game from Tully and dropped the contest, 11-10.
The mood in the Imperials clubhouse afterward was subdued, with several players remarking that they had allowed the Panthers to spoil the day for Tully.
"Some of the boys are beating themselves up about it," Chuluota manager Larry Voltaire said. "They know we win as a team and lose as a team, but it's hard to really put that idea into practice on a day when one of you was playing on such an obviously higher level."
In addition to the homers, Tully collected 3 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," the Chuluota second baseman told reporters. "Today I was in a groove. Tomorrow I could just pop the same pitches up and go 0-for-3."
Ricky Tully hit a solo-shot off Erwijn Hekman in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Alberto Quijada in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off J.D. Allison in the 9th.
Currently Tully is batting .286 with 12 home runs, 37 RBIs and 47 runs scored.
