Big Day for Cortes: Swats 5 Hits Wednesday, August 28th , 2024 There was no storybook ending. Jesus Cortes of the San Bernardino Flight socked it to the visiting Buckeye Local Panthers with a terrific 5-hit game, but his team didn't get the win. The Flight fell, 14-10, at Ballpark of San Bernardino. "I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here," Cortes complained following the loss. "When you have a great game you should win the game, too." He definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 6 at-bats. San Bernardino manager Nick Neumann sympathized with his center fielder, telling BNN reporters after the game that "Jesus played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough." Jesus Cortes singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
