Lewandowski Hits for the Cycle Sunday, August 25th , 2024 It was a special day for Josh Lewandowski at Mapleton Yards -- the Borrego Springs Rams second baseman hit for the cycle, getting every type of hit possible. The 21-year-old Lewandowski racked up 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run to etch his name in the history books. It was all for naught, however, as the Rams didn't win the ballgame, dropping the decision to the Moncton Mounties, 12-11. "He hit everything we threw," said Moncton manager Johnny Hoffman. "There was just no getting him out today." For the game, he was 4-for-6 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. "I'm glad for Josh," Borrego Springs manager Michael Wright said. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing and a nice feather in his cap. Would've been better if we could have won the game for him, too." Speaking to the press after the game, Lewandowski said the key for his record-setting day was "just getting some good pitches to hit." Josh Lewandowski doubled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Alex Almonte in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run triple in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
