Zamora Batters Tiverton Big Time
Saturday, August 17th , 2024
Ivan Zamora knows as well as anyone that in baseball, the biggest contracts go to the biggest hitters. At Ballpark of Plantersville, he made his case to be considered among that group.
The 19-year-old third baseman hammered 5 hits in 7 chances, though the remarkable effort came even as his Terra Linda Chargers fell, 18-17, to the Tiverton Colonels.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," Colonels manager Chris Hartman told BNN sportswriters after the game. "Thankfully, we were able to do enough elsewhere that Zamora wasn't the difference."
Ivan Zamora grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 8th, singled in the 10th and grounded out in the 12th.
This season in 37 games, Zamora has hit at a .183 clip with 20 hits, 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 9 runs scored.
