Rodriguez Belts Bunch of Base Hits Saturday, August 17th , 2024 Even as a kid, Jorge Rodriguez said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Ballpark of Plantersville, Rodriguez showed how well he learned that lesson. The 18-year-old center fielder had 5 hits in 7 at-bats for the Tiverton Colonels, helping his team knock off the Terra Linda Chargers by a score of 18-17. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did." Jorge Rodriguez grounded out in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, doubled in the 8th, singled in the 9th and hit a solo-shot off Tony Martinez in the 12th.
