Melo Stretches Hit String to 20
Wednesday, May 15th , 2024
The streak is alive and well -- at least for today.
Alex Melo did it again, bashing 4 hits in the contest at Lincoln Grounds. For the last 20 games in a row, the 20-year-old third baseman has collected at least one hit. His efforts helped the Buffalo Bellflowers beat the Lincoln Princes, 12-3.
"I'm happy I kept the streak going," Melo told a standing-room-only crowd of reporters gathered in the Buffalo clubhouse. "Honestly though, I'm looking forward to going home and not thinking about this for the rest of the day." Alex Melo singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
On the season, Melo is batting .425 with 11 home runs and 42 RBIs. He has played in 35 games.
