Cortes Sensational, 5-for-7 Friday, May 16th , 2025 Ricky Cortes was at the head of a Moncton hit parade at Centerville Grounds. The catcher went to the plate 7 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Mounties to a nice 14-0 victory over the Long Island Torpedoes. "I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Cortes told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today." Torpedoes skipper Moises Gonzalez said later that the club gave up "too much plate." "Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." Ricky Cortes singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Alexis Ruiz in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
