Escobar Blasts 3 into Bleachers Thursday, April 25th , 2024 Mike Escobar brutalized the Louisville Cardinals pitching staff, launching three home runs in the 11-2 Virginia victory at Davenport Field at Disharoon Park. The Virginia Cavaliers right fielder was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day. "I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one." For the game, he went 3-for-5 with 7 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Too much Mike Escobar today," Cardinals manager Casey Lounsbury said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to." Mike Escobar struck out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Mike Wood in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Mike Wood in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 8th. Escobar on the season is hitting .245 with 14 home runs. His stats include 28 RBIs and 29 runs scored. |
