5-Hit Barrage by Voci Sunday, April 21st , 2024 There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day. Jim Voci is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the Alabama Crimson Tide at Charles Hawkins Field. The monster effort from the 20-year-old catcher helped the Vanderbilt Commodores get the win, 7-1. "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Crimson Tide manager Eddie Szekely. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today." Jim Voci singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th. Voci is hitting .252 this season with 5 home runs, 21 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He has 32 hits in 127 at-bats. |
