Jayhawks Parent Gone for Year
Friday, May 1st , 2026
Kansas catcher Bob Parent could miss the remainder of the season because of a severely strained hip muscle. He exited yesterday's Arizona game after injuring himself while running the bases. The original diagnosis said Parent would be out 4 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."
Parent is hitting .306 this year with 19 home runs and 41 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .384, 19 walks and scored 30 times.
