Fighting Irish Prevail, as Final 4 Goes to the Wire Friday, May 19th , 2023 The joy and relief on the faces of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish players was obvious as they celebrated their Final 4 win over the Michigan State Spartans. "In a series like this, the smallest thing can make the difference in how it turns out," said Notre Dame first baseman Alex Aime, shortly after the 4-1 win that clinched the series 3-2. "We're happy we did what it takes to get it done." The team is now off to the College World Series. Aime won series MVP honors on the strength of his .381 batting average during the series. He also had a .480 on-base percentage and 2 home runs, drove in 8 RBI and scored 7 runs. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will play against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the next round. Alabama won their series against the Kansas Jayhawks 3 games to 0. The College World Series schedule will be announced after the Final 4 finishes. |
