Coronado Sensational, 5-for-5
|
Purdue Boilermakers left fielder Gustavo Coronado had a day to remember at Alexander Field, ripping apart the Penn State Nittany Lions and sparking the 4-3 Boilermakers win.
Coronado wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Coronado told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Gustavo Coronado hit a solo-shot off Micah Torossian in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Micah Torossian in the 2nd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This year, Coronado is hitting at a .280 pace with 6 home runs and 11 RBIs. He has played in 30 games and scored 17 times.
