The San Bernardino Flight beat the Riverside Wolverines, 5-4. San Bernardino pitcher and Madrid, Colombia, native Alfredo Sanchez led the way. San Bernardino goes to 45-79, Riverside to 62-62.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Ronald Poole came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Riverside pitcher Miguel Crespo, he hit a 1-0 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting San Bernardino on top, 5-4.
"Both teams played hard," said San Bernardino manager Nick Neumann.
