Riding the 2-hit performance of the 19-year old first baseman Leo Mendez, the Haviland Thrashers stopped the Chuluota Imperials, 7-1. Tyler Bourassa, the winning pitcher, is now 8-6. He went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 4. Rico Lopez earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.

The Thrashers got a big at-bat from center fielder Kyle Resko. For the game, Resko went 2 for 2 with a double and was hit by a pitch. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 6th double of the season gave Haviland a 1-0 lead.

"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Larry Voltaire.

The second-place Thrashers are now 74-51, the Imperials 64-61.
