Thrashers Deal Flight 6-2 Setback
|
Haviland first baseman Gwang-oo Shroyer played a vital role in his team's 6-2 conquest of San Bernardino. He went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for Haviland. Lorenzo Guerra got the win, improving to 3-2. He pitched 7.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 4. The second-place Thrashers improved to 78-43.
Had Shroyer not come through in the bottom of the seventh, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Shroyer hit a grand slam home run. The Thrashers took the lead, 6-2, and never looked back.
"I like winning," Shroyer told the Haviland Times. "I may joke around, but when it comes down to it, winning is the most important thing."
